The world-famous iPhone has an amazing camera that allows you to film truly high quality video. Even professionals use it - like we do here at One Lab creating our video content in Prague. However, simply clicking the rec button is not enough to use your precious device to its full potential. So let’s look at some tips and tricks that will allow you to shoot magnificent video using only iPhone.
1. Horizontal is the way to go!
This is simply the easiest way to improve the quality of your shooting. Never ever try to shoot vertical video, it just doesn’t look great. All of our modern laptops, your Facebook and Twitter feeds support widescreen. Just make sure you are holding your iPhone horizontally - wherever you go to shoot video in Prague or any other city of Europe.
2. Tripod is your best friend.
It doesn’t matter how calm you are, there is no way you can shoot a video without your hands shaking, especially when you move. It is definitely worth some extra crowns to make sure your shots are stabilized with tripod. There is a large choice of tripods on market, try to obtain some high-quality stuff like GripTight Mount
3. Zoom is your worst friend.
We all know the temptation to zoom in with an iPhone, but it simply makes your shot worse. The reason is that there is no optical lens in your device, so zooming on iPhone is just enlarging the image digitally, which leads to worsen quality of your video. If you want to zoom in, just take a 2 step walk to the subject you are shooting, this rule also work if you decided to use professional camera for shooting commercial video on streets of Prague or in a studio.
First of all, never use the built-in camera flash, unless you are trying to win “creepiest video of all time” award. The iPhone videos look great in natural lights, so the first thing you want to try is to move closer to the source of sunlight, e.g window. Also, there are tons of off-camera lights on the market, go pick one up if you feel like a true iPhone professional. 5. Sound is the key.
The quality of the sound is often distinguishes a good shot from the bad one. The essential rule is to get your microphone as close to your subject as possible.
The best option is to move an extra iPhone above subjects head to record the highest quality audio. There is a special technique called voice memo, check it out here. But if you need a professional audio and video advertising you better call one of Prague's companies.
6. Clip-on lenses will make magic.
There is a certain limit in the width of shots you can make, so clip-on lens will help you to make epic shots. It is especially useful when shooting indoors. On other note, clip-on lens will simply make your videos look better and stylish. OneLab suggests you something like Olloclip
7. Edit on your laptop.
There are tons of video-editing apps on AppStore, however there is no comparison to editing on your personal computer. Just import your video content on your computer and use simple tools like iMovie on Mac, that will let you edit with ease.
